BURUNDI club Urunani announced a partnership with the alcohol brand Budweiser on Wednesday. The East African nation’s most successful club revealed on their social media that the agreement with the beverage company will support their Road to BAL 2027 campaign from 21-25 October.
Furthermore, the beverage company’s sponsorship of Urunani will see them support the Sisi Wenywe Event and next year’s domestic ABL campaign.
While the shot in the arm will boost their coffers, it also comes at the right time for the 18-time ABL champions, who have signed top talent for the Road to BAL 2027.
The reigning ABL champions strengthened their technical team by appointing American-born Michael Seger, who has extensive experience coaching Uganda’s youth national team and Sunny Munyandamutsa Niyomugabo, who coached Rwanda’s Patriots.
On the playing side, Sisi Wenyewe brought back Mali’s Mahamane Coulibaly and Prosper Muhire. Muhire and Coulibaly contributed to the team’s league success. American guards Tyrone Stubbs and Stephaun Branch will add experience to the club’s backcourt, while Nigerian centre Chingka Garba brings strength to Urunani’s frontcourt.
